Plants for Free: Propagate Cape Gooseberry Plants from Cuttings

One gardening task that we can do at the beginning of autumn is multiply our plants for free. Many perennial flowers that bloom in spring and early summer can be divided, and we can also propagate stem cuttings. Growing cuttings is a valuable technique to create loads of new plants for free. It's also a clever way to ensure the survival of tender plants that aren't likely to survive the winter. In this video, I share how I'm taking cuttings of my cape gooseberry (Physalis peruviana) and potting them up to grow their own roots. Also called the Inca berry and ground cherry, these sprawling members of the Solanaceae family are relatives of tomatoes, tomatillos, peppers, and eggplants.
