That lake is near Godrumdvip, and when we go on Navadvip parikrama, we can see that place. Lord Sri Caitanya told the devotees, “Let’s sit by this lake and take rest." But one of the cowherd men of that area who was herding his cows nearby told them “Do not go nearby there! A dangerous crocodile lives in that lake. Even the cows are afraid and do not drink water from that lake.” Lord Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu hearing the words of the cowherd man remembered everything about previous lives and history of the crocodile. So the Lord started chanting holy names of Hare Krishna mantra. When the crocodile heard Lord Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu chanting the Holy Names of Krishna, crocodile body turned into a divine child devata. The small boy paid humble obeisance to Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu and started to cry. Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu asked him the reason for his crying, and the little boy told Him everything about his previous life and how he became a crocodile. At the time of Satya-yuga, three yugas before present Kali Yuga this child devata come in a Vrindavan forest called Kamyavan. Great sage Durvasa Muni at that time was sleeping in the forest. So childishly the boy decided to play a naughty prank on Durvasa Muni. The boy cuts his sikha while he was sleeping. Durvasa Muni immediately wake up and became furious at boy saying to him, “I will give you a curse. You will become a crocodile and stay as a crocodile in a lake for four yugas. When the Lord Himself appear in Kali-yuga as Sri Gauranga Mahaprabhu one day He will come to that lake and chant the Holy Name of Krishna.” “By the power of the Holy Names chanted by Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, you will get the benefit, and your curse will be removed. In this way, you will get your form of Deva child back.” The Deva child concluded his story to Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, "Just now You have chanted the Holy Name, and I have got my original form back. You have rescued me from the crocodile’s body. You have given me Your mercy, and I am happy.
