GKS Bełchatów Zdzisława Drobniewskiego (1990-2002)

GKS Bełchatów reached the Polish Cup final twice in the 1990s. Their performance in the first league was less successful, with teams unable to maintain a consistent position for more than two seasons. This period is held together by club president Zdzisław Drobniewski, who led GKS for 12 years. The fall of communism presented a significant challenge for most sports clubs in Poland. Bełchatów was no exception, as the local GKS had no guarantee of continued support from the lignite mine. In 1990, a new board was appointed, headed by Zdzisław Drobniewski. Their primary responsibility was to reach an agreement between GKS and the mine regarding the financing of football in Bełchatów. Ultimately, the mine's Workers' Council decided that KWB Bełchatów would continue to provide funding for GKS. This resulted in promotion to the second league in 1991 and a comfortable stay there the following season. GKS Bełchatów improved year after year, and in 1995 won promotion to the then-Ekstraklasa. In the 1995/96 season, after a disastrous autumn round, GKS Bełchatów fought to relegation until the final minutes of the season, with their match against Pogoń Szczecin becoming a historic one. In 1996 and 1999, the "Brunatni" played in the Polish Cup finals, losing both matches 0-1. It's also worth noting that the club, based on Sportowa Street, saw many talented players from 1990 to 2002, including Jacek Krzynówek, Jacek Berensztajn, Mariusz Kukiełka, and Dariusz Rzeźniczek. #ekstraklasa #gksbełchatów ➡️Support the Futbolowe Wzloty i Upadek channel and receive the following bonuses:    / @futbolowewzlotyiupadki   ➡️The background music in the video comes from: Cinematic Action Trailer by Infraction [No Copyright Music] / Epic Victory    • Cinematic Action Trailer by Infraction [No...
