The Cirrus SF50 Vision Jet is a very light jet aircraft developed by Cirrus in the mid-2010s. The Vision Jet is unique in many ways: it is the first single-engine passenger jet to be certified and marketed, and it is the first jet equipped with a parachute recovery system. Cirrus, the manufacturer of renowned light aircraft such as the SR20 and SR22 piston models, positions the Vision Jet not as a business jet, but as a personal aircraft—a personal flying machine, just not a piston or turboprop like its competitors, but a jet. Besides its jet engine, the aircraft is considered one of the most advanced in the light aircraft niche, equipped with sophisticated systems, including standard electronic aids such as an autopilot, synthetic vision, and navigation, as well as specialized instruments such as the Cirrus CAPS (an all-aircraft parachute recovery system) and the Safe Return system, capable of returning the aircraft to the airfield without pilot intervention. These solutions make the Vision Jet safe even with a single engine and simple enough for mass production. The price, however, is premium: a single-engine jet with 6-7 seats costs approximately $3.5 million.
