Lillie Langtry - her life and final resting place

@thereluctantoutdoorsman Tom from The Reluctant Outdoorsman channel walks around the graveyard at St. Saviour's Parish church in Jersey, Channel Islands on a beautiful, sunny January day in 2025. The graveyard is a stunning place and whilst wandering around it we hear about the life of one of Jersey's most famous people, Emilie Charlotte Le Breton born (a stones throw away) on October 13, 1853. Emilie married Edward Langtry and later became known as the Jersey Lillie or Lillie Langtry. The subject of a famous portrait by Sir John Everett Millais, Lillie quickly became one of the most talked-about women in London. She became a famous actress and socialite. Lillie Langtry’s legacy endures as a pioneer of modern celebrity culture. She was more than a beautiful face—she was a trailblazer who defied societal norms, earned her independence, and lived life on her own terms. Her charisma, resilience, and contributions to theater and society make her a truly iconic figure of her era.
