Jetty Walk to Sunset | From Iona Beach to Morton Park | Richmond & Vancouver, Canada

From Iona Beach to the Fraser River near the Olympic Oval, finishing at Morton Park’s coast. We begin at Iona Beach Regional Park, walking the long jetty that reaches into the Strait of Georgia and still serves Metro Vancouver’s wastewater system. Tidal flats, marshes, and more than 300 migratory bird species turn it into a quiet refuge with wide-open views. Iona Beach has also appeared on screen, Good Luck Chuck (2007) filmed romantic moments here, and Ellipse (2019) used its open sands for a solitary scene. From there, we follow the Fraser River in Richmond past floating homes, marinas, and the Richmond Olympic Oval from the 2010 Winter Olympics. The Fraser remains a historic river, carrying salmon runs and tracing the Pacific Flyway. We close at Morton Park in Vancouver, home to the playful A-maze-ing Laughter sculptures. An episode of The X-Files (1993–2018) filmed here, using the statues and beachside atmosphere to set a mysterious tone.
