Oli is joined again at JOETowers by Harry Shukman, a researcher and investigative journalist from HOPE not hate. Since we last heard from him, Harry's been undercover in the largest far-right group you've never heard of. The Basketweavers disguise themselves as an innocent 'community-building' group, but, behind closed doors, they're a radical network aiming to construct a new far-right elite and a white-only society. With over 1,300 vetted members across the UK and 1,100 more globally, they appeal to the loneliness and worst instincts of disillusioned young men. Shukman reveals what it was like to infiltrate the group, from attending pub gatherings and extremist conferences to witnessing open racism, antisemitism, and disturbing fantasies of political violence. He explains how the Basketweavers differ from older far-right organisations like Britain First, and how they've shifted away from traditional street activism to covert, in-person networking designed to avoid scrutiny.
