How to play Traumerei (Dreaming) by Robert Schumann, one of the most beautiful pieces for piano ever written. It is my goal to give you some tips on playing this piece, whether you are self-taught beginner, or a seasoned pianist. This is lesson 2 of the 24 day overview of this piece, which is designed to give you a solid foundation for studying and playing this piece. In this video we will go over, fingering, rhythm, notes, dynamics and pedal for measure 2. Please make sure to have a pencil handy so that you can find the fingering that works best for your hands! An important thing to be aware of is that there are MANY different versions of this piece, and many different interpretations. When playing this piece, pianists really take artistic liberties and make it deeply personal--so that is my goal for you. Because this is an overview, I am showing you what has worked well for my students and I am very aware that there are many ways to approach this piece. I simply want to give you some tools that can help you create your own interpretation.
