Is Cwmbran Shopping Centre Still Popular in 2026? | The Truth About the Redevelopment

Today we're taking a break from our usual historical adventures and heading somewhere a little different as we visit Cwmbran Town Centre in South Wales to answer one simple question... Is Cwmbran Shopping Centre still popular in 2026? With so many town centres across the UK changing rapidly, I wanted to see for myself whether Cwmbran still has the footfall, the atmosphere and the variety of shops that have made it such a well-known destination over the years. During our visit, we explore the shopping centre, see what's changed since my last trip, and take a closer look at the former indoor shopping area that was emptied of its remaining businesses. I'll also explain what's happened to the redevelopment plans, where things currently stand, and what the future could hold for this part of the town centre. Filmed during one of the hottest days of the year with temperatures reaching 34°C, it certainly made for an unforgettable visit! Along the way we meet some brilliant independent traders, including a friendly Slush Puppy kiosk owner who shares a little about their business, before another local independent retailer kindly offers us a free sample of one of their products while telling us about life trading in Cwmbran after being there for just over a year.
