Recently I Completed Delhi to Phugtal Monestry Trip Welcome to Episode 3 of the Phugtal Series! 🏔️ PHUGTAL SERIES FINALE | Reaching the Hidden Cave Monastery of Zanskar 🙏✨ After an unforgettable journey through the breathtaking landscapes of Zanskar, we finally reached the legendary Phugtal Monastery — one of the most remote and unique monasteries in India! 🏔️❤️ Phugtal Monastery is a stunning Buddhist monastery built into a natural cave on a cliffside above the Lungnak River. The name “Phugtal” comes from Phug (cave) and Tal (liberation), meaning “Cave of Liberation.” 🕉️ This monastery is believed to be around 900+ years old, founded in the early 12th century by Gangsem Sherap Sampo, a disciple of the great translator Lotsawa Rinchen Zangpo. 📜 Today, around 70 monks live here, studying Buddhist philosophy, meditation, and preserving ancient traditions. The monastery also houses a library, prayer hall, sacred scriptures, and a small school for local children. 🙏📚 What makes Phugtal truly special is that there is no direct road to the monastery — you must trek for hours through rugged mountains to reach it.
