The latest news comes from the construction of the Sleman-Gunungkidul bypass road, which will serve as a crucial access point connecting the Jogja-Solo toll road to the Gunungkidul region. As we all know, this new road project is designed to strengthen connectivity between regions in the Special Region of Yogyakarta, particularly by supporting access from the Bokoharjo toll exit to the south. Overall, the Prambanan-Gayamharjo-Tawang-Ngalang-Gading route is approximately 27.58 kilometers long. Of this total, almost all sections have been successfully constructed, with only one segment remaining incomplete: the Prambanan to Gayamharjo section. The Prambanan-Gayamharjo segment itself is planned to be approximately 9.08 kilometers long. To date, construction progress has reached approximately 4,555 kilometers, consisting of construction through the Regional Road Presidential Instruction (Inpres) scheme and support from the Yogyakarta Special Region Fund. Meanwhile, the remaining 4,525 kilometers are still under construction in stages. Of this total, approximately 1,525 kilometers have entered the ongoing construction phase under a multi-year contract, while approximately 3 kilometers are still in the funding proposal process. On the ground, construction continues to progress gradually without significant obstacles. The project is still on track according to the initial plan, providing optimism that all sections can be completed within the targeted timeframe. Looking ahead, the entire Sleman-Gunungkidul bypass road project is targeted for completion in 2027. Although the completion date is uncertain, it is hoped that all segments will be fully connected soon. This road will play a very strategic role, particularly in accommodating vehicle traffic from the Bokoharjo toll exit to Gunungkidul. This will ensure smoother and more efficient connectivity between regions. Furthermore, this bypass road is also expected to boost economic growth and the tourism sector in the Gunungkidul region, which is known for its significant potential but still has limited accessibility. With ongoing progress and support from various funding schemes, the construction of the Sleman-Gunungkidul road is now nearing completion.
