John Carrara was raised to be a priest but the LORD used an unexpected and intense encounter with scripture (John 3:16) to change John's heart and mind, and to save him, and to lead him to dedicate his long and fruitful life to the gospel of Jesus Christ- preaching salvation by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone, in accordance with the scriptures alone, and to the glory of God alone!!!!! His testimony, recorded in his book, "Why a Preacher and not a Priest", obviously applies to a strict Roman Catholic background but reaches far beyond that to any person anywhere that in any way puts their trust or hope or purpose in anything or anyone other than the one and true and only God- the God of scripture- the Triune Holy God who incarnated as Jesus Christ to save his people and reconcile his creation to himself.
