This marks the start of my mini series in the 0iv challenge. I'll be using it to double as both an introduction and a tutorial - of sorts - to the Generation 4 Frontier. Ideally, you use 31iv mons via RNG manipulation in breeding. This is not necessary, but it makes things easier. The intention is that (given I did this with 0 IV) - you do not need to do that. Team: I recommend only training pokemon with the correct ability, and without negative natures (so, not -atk or -speed for garchomp/scizor. And not -spatt or -speed for starmie) Starmie @ Focus Sash Ability: Natural Cure EVs: 252 SpA / 252 Spe Surf (HM) Psychic (repeatable Game Corner TM) Ice Beam (repeatable Game Corner TM) Thunderbolt (repeatable Game Corner TM) Garchomp @ Lum Berry EVs: 252 Atk / 252 Spe Outrage (Can be bought at the Frontier) Earthquake (Can be bought at the Frontier) Swords Dance (repeatable Game Corner TM) Substitute (repeatable Game Corner TM) Scizor @ Leftovers Ability: Technician EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk Bug Bite (Bought at the Frontier) Bullet Punch (Level-up move in HGSS) Swords Dance (Level-up move in HGSS) Superpower (Bought at the Frontier) Slightly better EV spreads than this exist, but are irrelevant for anyone only going for gold print. The EV spreads above are recommended due to how simple they are to train. The next Tower video will look at how to optimize teambuilding for the Frontier, which is something that the vast majority of players do not need to worry about if you only want Gold print or 100 wins for the trainer card.
