Forbidden Door 2026 took place from the SAP Center in San Jose, California, and featured championship matches, dream matches, shocking returns, and the finals of both the Men's and Women's Owen Hart Cup Tournaments. The biggest story coming out of the event was the incredible final stretch of the show. In my opinion, the Women's Owen Hart Cup Final, the first-ever Death Door Steel Cage Match, and the Men's Owen Hart Cup Final combined to produce one of the greatest three-match stretches I've ever seen on a wrestling pay-per-view. Will Ospreay wins the 2026 Owen Hart Cup and heading to AEW All In with an AEW World Championship Match awaiting him. Elsewhere on the show, Mercedes Moné defeated Maya World to become the first-ever back-to-back Women's Owen Hart Cup winner and punched her ticket to All In, where she is expected to challenge Thekla for the AEW Women's World Championship. The first-ever Death Door Steel Cage Match also exceeded expectations, featuring exploding backpacks, thumbtacks, tables, chairs, blood everywhere, the surprise appearance of Blackheart Lio Rush, and Andrade completing his babyface turn to help Team Mark Briscoe defeat Team MJF. The result also sets up future AEW World Championship matches between MJF, Mark Briscoe, and Andrade. Other major moments included Jay White making his long-awaited return to help Cope & Christian retain the AEW World Tag Team Championships, Jon Moxley retaining the AEW Continental Championship over Bandido, Kenny Omega defeating Zack Sabre Jr. in an outstanding technical wrestling showcase, Thekla successfully defending the AEW Women's World Championship against Starlight Kid, Shota Umino retaining the IWGP Global Heavyweight Championship against PAC, and The Young Bucks winning a spectacular high-flying opener.
