In a major cabinet meeting chaired by the Chief Minister, the Odisha government has approved 13 key proposals from 7 different departments, with a massive focus on transforming rural road connectivity across the state. Here are the key highlights of the cabinet approvals: Mukhya Mantri Sadak Yojana Extended: The scheme has been extended for another 5 years to fast-track rural development. New Road Construction: Approval has been granted for 4,600 km of new roads with a budget allocation of ₹4,000 crores. Rural Infrastructure Upgradation: Rural Development roads will undergo major upgrades, targeting 17,500 new roads over the next 5 years with a total expenditure of ₹5,750 crores. Inter-District Connectivity: Road networks connecting different districts and blocks will be built. This project will see 3,850 km of new roads and bridges constructed at an estimated cost of ₹1,917 crores over 5 years. Ongoing Projects: All currently running and incomplete road projects will be fast-tracked to completion. -Setu Bandha Yojana Extension: The "Setu Bandha Yojana" has also been extended by 5 years, under which 3,126 bridge projects will be repaired and built.
