Awara Onsen Station is located in the northern part of Fukui Prefecture and can be reached in less than 20 minutes from Fukui Station via the Happy Line Fukui. The area around Awara Onsen Station was originally called Kanazu-cho until February 2004. On March 1st of the same year, Awara-cho and Kanazu-cho in Sakai District merged to form the current Awara City. Therefore, there are many signs around the station that still say "Kanazu."
