And it has emerged that a typical Polish family could lose as much as 40,000 złoty in seven years. Without a separate line item in the personal income tax return, without a referendum, and without any choice. In this article, Marcin Wenus reveals documents that no one shows on prime time and explains why the trumpeted success is pure accounting fiction. Under pressure from Poland, the EU Emissions Trading System for Buildings and Transport (ETS2) has been postponed from 2027 to January 2028. The government is announcing the system's "death knell," but this is merely a postponement of execution. We analyze a groundbreaking report by Wanda Buk (former director of PGE) and Marcin Izdebski (Republican Foundation): the average Polish family heating with gas will lose an additional PLN 24,018 by 2035, while a family heating with coal will pay a whopping PLN 39,074 to the state. This translates to an additional PLN 500 taken out of their wallets each month. We discuss the ruthless forecasts from BloombergNEF and CAKE, according to which the price of allowances will shatter official safety nets and reach EUR 100-122 per tonne. This translates into a 30-50 groszy per liter increase in gasoline and diesel prices at the pump and a PLN 400 per tonne increase in coal prices.
