Cut In The City
The Luhyia people are among the few communities that continue to hold strongly to the traditional method of male circumcision. So entrenched is this practice that a 16 year olf boy in Kawangware begged his parents to have the ceremony in Nairobi because the family could not afford to travel upcountry. In an elaborate ceremony Anne Mawathe brings you the story of a boy who becomes a man in a ritual that brought dance and drink to the city.
