On March 3rd. 1881, it opened its doors with five boarders and two day scholars-a humble beginning that would go on to transform the lives of generations. By April, the numbers had grown to eleven boarders and five day scholars. The first Headmistress, Miss E Cordue, began the school's story with quiet determination, her arrival in Shillong marked by the image of three boarders journeying in a tonga.
