My favorite ground work with poles set up ❤️
During February and March I focused on ground work with Dakota in order to strengthen his top line. I’m sharing one of my favorite ways to set up some ground poles which can be used for ground work or ridden work. Likely, when I do start riding him again I will utilize this exercise because it is very familiar to both of us. The set up is a simple square using 4 poles, I have access to wooden poles at my boarding facility. I like to layer the poles so that one end is propped up on another pole and the opposite end lies flat on the ground. This uneven height adds some rigor to the exercise. In this video I work Dakota through the poles in a cloverleaf pattern. I can change my route, speed, and direction to change the pattern at any time without changing the pole configuration which makes the session more interesting for us. After a few weeks I am noticing a change to his top line, it’s more filled out and he is more supple. Enjoy!
