Explain Qatar's New Avios Restriction (Here's the Workaround)

Qatar Airways just quietly changed who you're allowed to redeem Avios for — and if you're a Canadian who transfers points in, there's a catch that could stop you from booking flights for family and friends entirely. In this video, I break down Qatar Airways Privilege Club's new Family & Friends and My List programs, the "qualifying activity" requirement that trips up most Canadians (transferring points in doesn't count!), and exactly what you can do about it — including the cheapest workaround using Finnair's €10 Avios transfer. (CORRECTION) In the video we mentioned that your Finnair account needs to be 30 days old to be able to transfer to someone else's account. It is in fact 90 days and not 30 days. Our apology to this error. Here's the good news: booking for yourself hasn't changed at all, and unlocking your account is easier than you think.
