Jeremy Clarkson’s Farm and Met Kaleb Cooper

We finally made it to Jeremy Clarkson’s Diddly Squat Farm for the Cereals event — and what a day it turned out to be. In this video, we head down from Yorkshire to Oxfordshire for a very different farming day out. Instead of being back home feeding cows, zero grazing, checking the robots, fixing things, or chasing the weather, we’re at Diddly Squat Farm looking around the Cereals event, meeting people, seeing machinery, and chatting with a few familiar faces. This turned into a brilliant day, with interviews and quick chats with Kaleb Cooper, Jeremy Clarkson, Sammy TV, Joe Seels, and other farming creators. It was one of those events where everywhere you turned there was something going on — tractors, ploughs, combines, demonstrations, cameras, crowds, and farmers all having a look at what the future of farming might look like. We start the morning after stopping overnight before heading over to the event. Once we arrive, it does not take long before we’re straight into the farming kit, including a look at a robotic plough. I get shown how the controls work, although I’m not sure they were quite ready to let a Yorkshire dairy farmer loose with it properly. There were plenty of tractors on show as well, including John Deere tractors that got me thinking about how they compare with what we use back home. Some of the newer machines are very impressive, especially with the automatic gearboxes and how smooth modern tractors are becoming to drive. One of the highlights of the day was meeting Kaleb Cooper from Clarkson’s Farm. We had a quick chat at the event, and it was great to meet someone who has done so much to bring farming to a wider audience. We also caught up with Jeremy Clarkson himself, which was a proper surprise moment. Diddly Squat Farm has become one of the best-known farms in the country, and it was brilliant to actually be there and see the event taking place in person. Another great part of the video was speaking with Sammy TV about her renovated tractor, Bertie. It was lovely to see the tractor finished, painted, and looking smart at the show. There’s something special about seeing an older tractor brought back to life properly, especially when you know the work and effort that has gone into it. We also bumped into Joe Seels and other farming creators, which made the day even better. At times it felt like everyone was filming everyone else, but that is part of the fun of these farming events now. It is not just about machinery anymore — it is also about sharing the farming story with a wider audience. One thing that really stood out was how different the land is down there compared with what we farm at home in West Yorkshire. The soil looked very sandy and stony, and you could see straight away it would work, dry, and farm completely differently to our heavier Yorkshire ground. That is one of the best things about going to events like this. You don’t just see machinery — you see different farming systems, different land, different ideas, and different ways people are trying to make farming work. There was also plenty of talk around ploughing, cultivation, minimum tillage, direct drilling, soil structure, and where farming might be heading in the future. We looked at plough bodies, shallow ploughing, soil movement, and how farmers are trying to balance cost, time, fuel, soil condition, and crop yield. The robotic plough was definitely one of the most interesting bits of kit to see. Whether farming will fully go that way in the future, I honestly don’t know. It might, it might not. But you can see how quickly technology is moving, and it is impressive to watch what is already possible. For us, coming from a Yorkshire dairy farm, this was a proper day away from the normal routine. No cows to feed in this video, no milking robots to check, no slurry to move, and no zero grazing to get done — just a chance to look around, meet people, compare ideas, and enjoy a farming event at one of the most famous farms in the country. It was a fantastic day, a brilliant turnout, and a great chance to see Diddly Squat Farm in person. Thanks so much for watching.
