A desert landscape has to be one of the most iconic and greatest Bucket List destinations. In this Merzouga Travel Vlog, we share exploring the Erg Chebbi desert during our 4 month road trip in Morocco. For me the desert is fast becoming my most spiritual and favourite destination. With its ocean of undulating dunes, the iconic camel caravans, the epic sunrises and sunsets and the mystical vibration that it evokes. The Sahara desert in Morocco is second to none. Of the two archetypal desert destinations that are most accessible for a visit to Morocco, Erg Chebbi is the most accessible. With hotels and campsites lining the fringes of the magical dunes, your morning wake up call is the deafening sound of the silence as the sun peeks over the dunes from Algeria. Within a few steps you can place your naked feet upon the golden sands that quite literally are on your doorstep. Within a stride or two, you can reach the lofty heights of some of the most incredible dunes with panoramic vistas across this south-eastern region of Morocco. Erg Chebbi is a destination waiting to be discovered by foot or by camel. Whilst the dunes are scarred by incessant buggies and 4x4, Mother Earth soon places her mark on the landscape with just one breath of wind. Yet the real footprints are those by the night-time animals that call this home. In this video, I am excited to share our two week stay in Merzouga and share with you tips about exploring the Erg Chebbi desert, suggestion for hiking the dunes safely and places you can stay in your motorhome.
