There are SIX Monsters in the King Kong Spider-Pit Sequence
We're all well aware of the arachnocidis, the skull crawler which is reappearing in the next film, the foetodon, the infamous tentacle worm, and of course the spider itself, but did you know there's actually a SIXTH monster puppet that was made and used in the mythic and much-fabled lost spider-pit sequence? It's true! And in this case it's not even obscure - the giant crab is reference in the storyboard artwork and may have even been in the script, making arachnocidis the odd one out! I came to this revelation just a few hours ago while doing research for my series of King Kong videos starting on March 3rd. I've never seen anyone mention this before so instead of waiting for that series to start, I'm putting this info out there right now even when I should be packing because I want it to be easily accessible. Looking back it seems kind of crazy no one's noticed this before and you'll see why when I get into it in the video.
