I didn't celebrate New Year's at a table or a party this year. I spent it at a dog shelter on Koh Samui. It was a volunteer shelter—I worked there for free: I looked after the dogs, cleaned, fed them, and was just there. No heroism or pretension. Simply because it was the right thing to do.
