I’m finally meeting up with my good friend and colleague, Miguel, for an unforgettable motorcycle journey through the heart of Colombia. Miguel knows this area like the back of his hand, and he wasted no time showing me the "real" backcountry. We started with a water crossing before heading deep into the hinterlands on trails known only to the locals. Fair warning: these trails are no joke! Some of the paths lead dangerously close to the edge, and more than once, I found myself holding my breath from the sheer tension. It’s technical, steep, and absolutely breathtaking. Because we have a long road ahead of us, we had to keep our pace up. We made a quick stop in the colorful town of Ráquira before pushing onward toward San Juan del Río Seco. After a long, adrenaline-filled day, we finally found a fantastic hotel to recharge and prepare for what’s coming next.
