WAS COLLISION COURSE A GIMMICK?
Was Collision Course a gimmick? In 2004, MTV put Jay-Z and Linkin Park together for a mashup project that probably should have felt fake. One of the biggest rappers in the world, one of the biggest rock bands in the world, six songs, a CD/DVD combo, and a whole lot of early-2000s energy. But somehow… it worked. In this video, I look back at Collision Course track by track, from Numb / Encore to Points of Authority / 99 Problems / One Step Closer, and try to figure out why this album still hits over 20 years later. This is about Jay-Z, Linkin Park, MTV, burned CDs, LimeWire, cousins putting you onto music, and a time when discovering songs felt way more personal. Thanks for watching Saturday Morning Salvage. #CollisionCourse #LinkinPark #JayZ #MTV #NumbEncore #MusicNostalgia #2000sMusic #SaturdayMorningSalvage
