Where are these aliens? Will they ever come? What will happen if they do? Italian physicist Enrico Fermi asked these questions to his colleagues during a lunch conversation while visiting Los Alamos National Laboratory in New Mexico. If our solar system weren't unique, any alien civilization with sufficiently advanced space travel technologies would have colonized the entire galaxy by now. They'd have had plenty of time to do so. But we hadn't encountered any alien civilizations in sight. And so the paradox was born: the Fermi Paradox.
