I was given this Scots pine by a friend who no longer had any use for it. So I decided to add it to the “Something from nothing” batch of trees I already had for future videos I hope to make. You will see in this video that even though there were very few branches, I still had to remove some more branches to make the material tree into a feasible bonsai design. I think the final result shows some promise for a simple literati bonsai. As with all of the trees in this series, the final result represents only “Day One” in the life of the bonsai — there is still a long way to go to make it into a specimen bonsai. I haven’t done anything to the tree’s buds as I will wait until spring when they with begin to extend and I will be able to see which are worth keeping and which buds should be removed. I look forward to making a pot for the tree.
