Imtiaz Ali seems to have lost his way as a Director (as has all of Bollywood, of late). It's not possible to make a good historical film about a history you haven't really gone deep into, or personally felt. The romance is uninspiring and there are no side characters, places, events or people that can immerse us into a different universe, unlike his earlier best films where the supporting cast was as much part of the success of the film.
