NYCT and MTA Bus: First Day of the Queens Bus Network Redesign (Phase 1) (w/ New Rush Routes!)

Taken 6/29/25. June 29th, 2025 was the first day of the new Queens Bus Network! This project (which will be completed in two phases) aims to simplify bus service and provide faster trips across the borough. Some routes have been discontinued (such as the Q34, QM3), some were renamed (Q20A/B to Q20), and some were left alone with a few stop adjustments (Q44, Q60, etc). Several new routes were also added, and a few routes were swapped between New York City Transit and MTA Bus Company, making for some interesting fleet swaps. In addition to the route changes, this project also included the addition of a new type of bus service: RUSH routes, which are designed to make limited stops along streets/corridors with a high volume of transit. An example of which is the Q46, which makes express stops along Union Turnpike until 188th Street, and then makes local stops east. The Q45 provides local service along that same express corridor. As these new services are running over the next few days, expect slight changes to be made depending on customer feedback. Within this video, you’ll see most of the new changes from Day 1 of Phase 1 of the redesigned network. You’ll see most of the new routes running in Queens, along with some of the more interesting fleet swaps.
