Michael Jordan's Final NBA Game (2003)

April 16, 2003 - In one last swan song (after previous swan songs in 1993 and 1998), Michael Jordan finally called with quits with a 15-point performance in a 107-87 loss to Allen Iverson and the Philadelphia 76ers. Jordan initially retired in 1993 after leading the Chicago Bulls to three consecutive NBA titles. He returned in 1995, leading the Bulls to three more championships before stepping away from the game in 1998. Finally, in 2001, Jordan announced he'd be returning to the game as a member of the Washington Wizards, a team for whom he was previously a part owner. Jordan's first season with the Wizards was curtailed by season-ending knee surgery after just 60 games. Jordan initially sustained the injury on February 7 against the Sacramento Kings. A win that evening pushed the Wizards to 26-21. But as Jordan's injury took hold, the wheels slowly began to fall off. Jordan struggled through 14 injury plagued games before calling it quits for the year. The Wizards went 11-24 following the injury. Jordan bounced back in the 2002-2003 season, playing all 82 games and becoming the oldest player to average 20 points a night. The Wizards as a whole struggled through a lack of depth and experience, finishing 37-45 and missing the postseason.
