Subscribe now: / @usedcarstv http://www.autobytel.com/chevrolet/eq... The 2012 Chevrolet Equinox is a compact crossover SUV in a segment that is usually dominated by the likes of the Honda CR-V and the Toyota RAV4. Chevy bills the Equinox as a crossover for the modern lifestyle and the stats do not lie. The Equinox is at or near the top in every category that matters to the crossover buyer. This vehicle has wonderful fuel economy, a great warranty, and tons of interior space. The 2012 Chevy Equinox is a great vehicle for the price and if you are looking to buy a vehicle in this automotive segment, you must take the Equinox for a test drive. The base price for the LS FWD is $23,530 with the top of the line LTZ AWD starting at $30,970. There are 2 different engine options on the Chevy Equinox: one is smaller more fuel efficient, while the other is larger and more powerful. The smaller engine is a 2.4 liter ECOTEC 4-cylinder that makes 184 horsepower and 172 lb-ft. of torque. The transmission is a very nice shifting 6-speed automatic. Fuel economy figures are great at 22 MPG in the city and 32 MPG on the highway. The second engine is an optional 3.0 liter DOHC V-6 featuring direct injection. This larger motor makes 264 horsepower and 216 lb-ft. of torque while mustering 17 MPG in the city and 25 MPG on the highway. Choosing the optional V-6 engine package will add $1500 to the price of your Equinox. On the inside of the Chevrolet Equinox there is plenty of passenger space. This crossover SUV fits 5 but a really cool feature is the ability for the 2nd row to slide forward or back. This can add leg room is you are carrying a few adults, or this can provide some extra cargo volume. The seats were designed to offer the most comfort possible at this price point. The Equinox is pretty technological advanced as there is a whole suite of utilities that include: Bluetooth, Satellite radio, a Pioneer sound system, mobile apps, and WiFi. Safety wise the 2012 Chevy Equinox was named a Top Safety Pick by the IIHS. There six standard airbags on the Equinox. Both Stability Control and Traction Control are on hand to keep you safe in tough conditions. As an added bonus this crossover SUV also benefits from an Electronic Brake Force Distribution system and a Lane Departure Warning System. The Equinox comes with a 60 month 100k mile warranty which is tops in this segment. While many other compact crossover SUVs may get more recognition, the 2012 Chevrolet Equinox has been a solid performer for many years. With a very efficient ECOTEC engine and tons of interior space, the Equinox is a sure bet for those looking to purchase an affordable crossover vehicle.
