(DRG) Ice and Light || Interstellar Plus (Solo - Morkite)

Cryo cannon. In a weird way, it's the best crowd clear driller has... it's also the best single target driller has. So, why is this thing not undoubtedly the best weapon for driller. Well, for solo, you could maybe argue that it is. However, this weapon faces other challenges that most weapons don't, which I discuss lower. I do all of these runs in salt pits because oddly enough this weapon thrives on enemies being close to you, as soon as they spread out you get significantly less ammo efficiency, and enemies such as mactera can be out of range of cold radiance, causing them to be difficult to deal with. The normally challenging and tight tunnels of salt pits are actually what we want when using cryo cannon. Build: Crystal Nucleation (32132) | Blistering Necrosis (322X2) | Impact Axe As mentioned above, this build is very strong and no doubt one of the easiest builds to solo with. But let's dive into the details a bit. I'll mention what the build is good at before discussing the nuances. Large swarms of enemies such as grunts are trivialised by just holding down m1. This freezes everything nearby (thanks to cold radiance), stopping the enemies from being able to touch you because they freeze before reaching you. Then, the slightest bit of damage from wavecooker deletes everything, thanks to both the 3x damage from the frozen status and also boiler ray. Furthermore, the wavecooker spread colds, which (especially combined with crystal nucleation) can cause chain freezing to occur, saving cryo ammo. Similarly, large groups of mactera can easily be dealt with by standing around a corner and holding m1. All of the mactera freeze as they come around the corner to find an angle to attack from. Clearing rooms as well as any high health enemy is also very easy to handle with this build thanks to the 1. 3x damage from frozen status 2. blisters from blistering necrosis 3. impact axes. For example, oppressors get frozen and killed with 2 axes, dreadnoughts get frozen and are usually between 1 and 3 axes. Mini bulks are similar. In terms of clearing rooms, cryo provides so much safety by just disabling stationaries. You can use axes if you want once they are frozen, but often blistering necrosis will do the job just fine, saving axes for other enemies. Now onto what the build struggles with, which is interesting because I've basically said this build handles swarms and single target. So, what else is there? Well, it's all the stuff in between, as well as anything that is resistant to freeze. For example, elite mactera. If you don't start shooting them as they fly over to you, they have a good chance of getting a shot off. It doesn't matter whether you use cryo cannon or wavecooker, neither does enough damage or freeze to kill them in time. Similarly, any other elite enemy is resistant to freeze, so they take extra time to kill. Grabbers can also be an issue. If you catch them early, you can freeze them. If you don't, you don't do enough damage with either weapon to make them flee. Big shredders, these slow floating fish normally pose no threat to the mighty dwarf, as their slow movement speed means they're the last thing to reach you. But, cryo cannon relies on enemies being close, which means the big shredders often actually make it to you and then do a lot of damage. I'm not going to continue listing enemies, but I think you get the idea that it's not the normal threats that this build struggles with.
