Inauguración del IV curso académico del Centro Universitario de Formación de la Policía Nacional

The Secretary of State for Security, Aina Calvo, accompanied by the Director General of the National Police, Francisco Pardo Piqueras; the Director of the University Center, Agustín Alonso-Carriazo; the President of the Ávila Provincial Council, Carlos García; and the Deputy Government Delegate in Ávila, Fernando Galeano; among other police authorities, inaugurated the fourth academic year of the National Police University Center for Training at the National Police Academy in Ávila. The National Police University Center began in 2021, following the publication of the General State Budget Law for 2022, which mandated its creation. The publication of Royal Decree 666/2022, of August 1, approved its Statutes, and subsequently, on October 24, 2022, His Majesty King Felipe VI inaugurated the first academic year. At that solemn ceremony, the Minister of the Interior stated that: "The creation of this University Center culminates the pursuit of specialized and excellent training, education that provides National Police officers with the essential knowledge and skills for the effective performance of their vital work." Currently, the National Police Training University Center is affiliated with three universities through agreements published in the Official State Gazette (BOE): the University of Salamanca, the University of Alcalá, and the Complutense University of Madrid. However, only the first two have received approval from their respective Autonomous Communities. Furthermore, an agreement has been signed with the National University of Distance Education (UNED) to offer undergraduate degrees to National Police personnel. Regarding the University of Salamanca, the academic relationship between the university and the General Directorate of the Police has spanned more than three decades, marked by repeated demonstrations of mutual institutional commitment. In addition to the existing degrees already offered—the Bachelor's Degree in Police Studies and the Master's Degree in Security and Police Function (both taught at the National Police Academy in Ávila)—two new master's programs are being planned: one in Human Rights and Equality in the Context of Police Function, in collaboration with the Faculty of Social Sciences, and another in Cybercrime in the Context of Police Function, in collaboration with the Faculty of Sciences. The Bachelor's Degree in Police Studies inaugurated the academic activity of the University Center with its first edition in the 2022/2023 academic year. The current cohort, comprising the fourth edition of the degree program, consists of 400 police officers. These students are participating in the same training as 379 others from the third cohort, who have been completing their external internships at various police stations since September 1st, in collaboration with the Training and Professional Development Division. Meanwhile, the Master's Degree in Security and Police Function, undertaken by future National Police inspectors in their second year of training at the National Police Academy, begins this 2025/2026 academic year with 378 students, the same number as the previous year, in which all the proposed objectives were achieved with outstanding results. In total, these 757 officers from the first and second cohorts of the Master's program are joined by the 1,544 students from the first four cohorts of the Bachelor's Degree in Police Studies.
