In today's WW2 history exploring in the New Forest, me, the boy, and the dog walked out to the site of RAF Beaulieu and walked to one of the lesser known sites. The hump or mound near the village of Pilley on Beaulieu Heath, Hampshire actually had a part to play during the war. It's where the planes would test their weapons before going on a missions, firing into the shoot-in butt or RAF Beaulieu hump / mound as it's often called.
