This is a rare short program video of Riku Miura × Shoya Ichihashi, the pair known as “RikuSho,” from the 2018 World Junior Figure Skating Championships in Sofia, Bulgaria. Riku Miura was still only 16 years old. And yet, on the eve of 2019, the year she would form RikuRyu with Ryuichi Kihara and help change the history of Japanese pairs, the courage, speed, and presence that would define her were already there. This video is filled with that very origin. Along with showing Riku Miura’s appeal on the big World Junior stage, this footage also explains the results from that event, the value of the RikuSho era, and the beginning of her connection with a young Bruno Marcotte, who can be seen on the right side of the Kiss and Cry. Miura and Ichihashi scored 50.30 in the short program, placing 9th in the SP and 10th overall. For Japanese pair skating at the time, that World Junior Top10 was also a very meaningful result.
