When a safety technician becomes a "jack-of-all-trades," the first impulse might be to say, "That's not my job." But perhaps there's a more strategic approach. There are other ways to avoid the Safety Technician's role being diverted. Before resorting to confrontation, show leadership which preventative activities are being neglected while you handle other demands. Investigations, training, inspections, monitoring of the PGR (Risk Management Program), action plans, and working with leadership also have value, and the company needs to recognize that. Don't just show what you're doing. Show what's being left undone.
