PROCESS: Fusing Cremains (Ashes) into Glass as Memorial Pieces
I get it — the idea of dealing with cremains is not for everyone. But I find it a great honor to be trusted to create memorial pieces with something so precious to someone. So when I was asked to make some pieces using the ashes of three beloved family pets, I requested permission to film and share my process with you. SCHEDULES: 1st firing: full fuse the ashes on your standard full fuse schedule 2nd firing (to make my frit blanks): 300-1350-10 (No ramp down or anneal) 3rd firing (full fuse the cremains inside the pieces) 300-1100-45 50-1225-60 600-1450-30 9999-900-90 100-600-0 Optional 4th firing (fire polished the fronts of my paw prints) 100-1150-5 (very slow ramp up as these pieces are thick and the ashes could cause stress?) 9999-1325-0 9999-900-90 100-600-0
