Harpers Ferry Winter Kayaking Documentary — The Cold Life

Video from the archives. This is one of my earlier works but something I'm still proud of. In 2014 Dave Kersey and myself set out to create a mini-documentary capturing the paddling culture in Harpers Ferry, West Virginia during the winter time. This edit features some of Dave's video of epic flood stage and high water runs on the Shenandoah River and Potomac River. Some of the featured rapids include: Bull Falls Chutes 1 and 2, Upper and Lower Staircase, White Horse, Cogler's Hole, and Bass Rock. Attainment moves, zoom moves, lots of surfing and stern squirts. The Harpers Ferry style of boating centers around down river play in slicey boats, throwing cartwheels, splats, enders and squirts. This film took second place in the Harpers Ferry Outdoor Film Festival.
