Hive Body Fine Finishing Techniques
Sometimes receiving or making your own equipment leaves a less than desirable result, especially at the box joints. Here are a few tips to make it look nicer, and function better. Gluing the box joints and then planing them works nicer because you get a cleaner cut and the glue is solid at this point, which leaves you with a nice surface to paint. I also include a few tips to paint your hive bodies quickly, but effectively. Remember, you don't want your hives to be an eyesore, especially if they are on someone else's land. Keep them in good condition so that they can: provide the bees with better protection both from the elements and from other insects, promote beekeeping by providing hives that are pleasing to the eye, and protect your investment!
