RD21872(vid). 35018 BRITISH INDIA LINE and other trains: 9th July, 2021.
RD21872(vid). On Sunday, the 9th July, 1967, steam finally came to an end on the Southern Region of British Railways. On Friday, the 9th July, 2021, this event was commemorated by Merchant Navy Class Pacific 35018 running from London to Weymouth via Yeovil. This short video starts at Winchfield where the down train stopped for the locomotive to take water while the South Western Railway electric multiple units carried on their day to day business. Later, in the evening, the up train is seen passing through Fleet at speed on its way back to London; playing a supporting role are some South Western Railway diesel and electric multiple units.
