Is My Steering Wheel on the Wrong Side?

We’re building a Porsche from two different … but now we have to decide which side the steering wheel belongs on. In this episode, we tackle one of the biggest decisions in our Porsche 356 x 718 restomod build: should this car be left-hand drive or right-hand drive? It sounds simple, but once you dig into it, this decision affects almost everything — Australian engineering and compliance, mechanical packaging, steering components, pedal box placement, future value, usability, and even how this car connects with the majority of our audience around the world. Because this build combines parts from different generations of Porsche, we start looking at the car almost like a box of Lego pieces. Some parts fit. Some parts nearly fit. Some create a whole new problem. We compare what is involved in building the car as RHD versus LHD, what it means from an engineering point of view, and how the final decision could affect the finished car. This is not just a steering wheel decision. It is one of those early choices that could shape the entire build. Thanks for watching and following along as we build the Porsche that Porsche never built.
