Türkçede neden bu kadar çok Farsça kelime var? (İRAM Araştırmacısı Oral Toğa konuğumuz)
This week on GZT Alfa, our guest was Oral Toğa! We discussed ways to understand Iran, the role of Persian, and the strong cultural interaction between Turkish and Persian with IRAM Researcher Oral Toğa. Persian, Arabic, and Turkish have been the "languages of culture" of this region for centuries. Arabic, the language of science, Persian the language of literature and diplomacy, and Turkish the language of the military and administration, have nourished each other throughout history. From the Ottoman period to the present, numerous Persian words have become ingrained in Turkish, from the names of days of the week ("Çarşamba" and "Thursday") to our literature and even our everyday conversations. Oral Toğa also touched upon the uniquely Iranian culture of "taaruf." Taaruf, which holds a significant place in daily life, politics, and social relations, may appear to be politeness but is actually a much deeper social code. Understanding whether a statement is genuine or taaruf is a critical element in accurately interpreting Iranian society. He also explained Iran's daily life, interwoven with poetry, the question of why even everyday conversations are poetic, the role of literature in social memory, the ease of learning Persian, and how this language has influenced Turkish throughout history. So, is knowing Persian necessary to understand Iran? Why are there so many Persian words in Turkish? Why are even everyday conversations in Iran like poetry? This and more are streaming now!
