Politicians don't have friends, only fellow travelers and opponents, and sometimes they even swap places depending on the shifting balance of power in the political arena. But by early October, Kyrgyzstan had truly entered a revolutionary situation, where the lower classes refused to live as before, and those at the top were unable to govern in a new way. For three years, Jeenbekov's team had failed to transition to a new governance. Despite this, the events of October 5-6 were a complete surprise to everyone, including external forces. The elections and their results were merely a pretext for the people to take to the streets. One of the reasons was that during the 2005 and 2010 revolutions, power changed, but the goals of the revolutions were not achieved—at least institutional change was expected. In our country, however, the people in power simply changed, and everything else remained the same. But it was precisely this unchanging system that gave rise to corruption and all other negative developments. The new people who came to power were initially motivated in a healthy and normal way, but gradually the system absorbed them, and along with them, the entire new government, so people's lives continued to deteriorate. The same thing happened to Sooronbay Jeenbekov and his team. He began recruiting people for his team with the goal of satisfying all political forces, but this is where the problems began: parliament ended up divided into five or six parts, the government was made up of completely different factions—the prime minister represented one political force, the deputy prime ministers represented others, and the ministers also represented different forces, so there was no unified team. The center of control for the ministers wasn't the prime minister, but the leaders of various parties, who gave them different signals. Back in 2018, I wrote several letters to President Jeenbekov—on corruption, accelerated economic development, the tax system, and many other issues—but my voice went unheeded. I wrote to him about our Constitution as a philosophical and spiritual document. For some reason, we believe that the state lacks a national idea, yet it is clearly spelled out in Article 1 of the Constitution.
