The Real Major Richard "Dick" Winters of Band of Brothers - Documentary. Richard "Dick" Winters (1918-2011) was a highly decorated United States Army officer who served during World War II. He is best known for his leadership of Easy Company, 2nd Battalion, 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment of the 101st Airborne Division, which was the subject of the popular HBO miniseries "Band of Brothers." Winters was born in Pennsylvania and attended Franklin and Marshall College before enlisting in the Army in 1941. He rose quickly through the ranks, earning numerous commendations for his bravery and leadership in combat. After the war, Winters returned to civilian life and worked as a businessman, eventually retiring to Hershey, Pennsylvania. He remained a revered figure among veterans and military historians, and his leadership and heroism continue to inspire generations of soldiers.
