Can Wellesley Escape? Wargame
Today on Little Wars TV, we continue our Talavera campaign by exploring the consequences of a decisive French victory. Our French commanders dealt the Anglo-Spanish army a heavy blow at Talavera, forcing Arthur Wellesley to order a retreat. What would that have meant in 1809? We can piece together historical letters and evidence to help answer that question. Marshal Soult was marching south in July 1809 with his corps, and in today's "what if" sequel, Soult intercepts the British on their way to Portugal. Can the British battle their way out of the trap, or will the French find a way to catch Wellesley before his earns his title, "Duke of Wellington?" Let's find out right now on Little Wars TV! We're joined in this episode by two special guest players from across the Atlantic, the father-son team behind General d'Armee 2, the rules we played for Talavera. Our thanks to David & Christopher Brown for stopping by the club to roll dice with us! 2025 GREAT WARGAMING SURVEY You just have a couple days left to take the 2025 survey run by Wargames, Soldiers & Strategy Magazine.
