The "W Series" can be considered the pinnacle of vintage Casio watches. Marlin, Swimmer, Yacht... Many of the popular models frequently seen on auction sites share a model number prefix of "W-". So, what exactly is the W Series? We have compiled a list of approximately 120 W Series models by researching catalogs and documentation from the time of their release. Covering models from the 1980s to the present day, we introduce the evolution of designs and water-resistance capabilities, as well as the logic behind the model numbering, alongside the actual watches themselves. The W Series is less like a standard watch lineup and more like an encyclopedia. It is a series that offers new discoveries the more you look at it. In this first part, I’ll be introducing models released between 1980 and 1989. In the second part, I’ll cover models from 1990 onwards, share my personal favorites, and recommend current models available today.
