San Gabriel Trench Construction Time-Lapse (January 2012 - February 2018)

Construction of the 2.2-mile San Gabriel Trench Grade Separation Project included lowering a 1.4-mile section of railroad tracks in a 30-feet-deep, 65-feet-wide trench through the City of San Gabriel with four roadway bridges at Ramona Street, Mission Road, Del Mar Avenue and San Gabriel Boulevard, allowing vehicles and pedestrians to safely pass over the at-grade railroad crossings. The $293.7 million project will eliminate delays for emergency responders, reduce congestion and air pollution, and the potential for vehicle-train crossing collisions.
