It was a typical day for Linda, who was on her way to Lincoln Intermediate School for summer classes. She usually rode her bike, but on July 6, her piano teacher dropped her off. After school let out around 1:00 p.m., Linda didn't want to walk home, so she used the school office phone to call her mother. But her mother was busy and told her daughter to walk home. Linda would never return home. At approximately 6:42 p.m., Linda was reported missing. The family's nightmare began. The next morning, a local architect named Ron Yeo was biking along a nature trail known as Back Bay with his young son. Ron sees a pale hand in a swampy ditch... For a split second, he thinks there's a living girl trapped in the mud. But sadly, the child is dead. The horrible truth emerges: it is indeed the body of Linda O'Keefe. The little girl was sexually assaulted and strangled. Newport Beach police investigators quickly take over the case. But despite reconstructing the timeline and finding several pieces of evidence, investigators have never managed to identify the person responsible for this horrific murder. The police wandered through a maze of different theories and eventually abandoned the case over the years, then closed it. Linda's murder could have remained a cold case, but that was without counting on the determination of the Newport Beach police investigators... For nearly 45 years, Linda's photo hung on the wall alongside other unsolved cases, reminding each new generation of officers of the work they still had to do. And it took more than 45 years for the family and loved ones to finally receive answers...
